Track Listing
Extra Medium Pony was founded by singer/songwriter/guitarist Rick Spitalsky in 2010 (Volta Sound, The Dreadful Yawns, Nicholas Megalis, Afternoon Naps, and featured on Herzog's 2009 release, "Search") with two friends, Ben Gmetro on bass (Dreadful Yawns, Afternoon Naps, Mole People) and Jimmy Frysinger on drums (Nicholas Megalis).
Extra Medium Pony keeps it short and sweet. Their songs are incredibly infectious and catchy, most being right under the two minute mark, although much of the material is a bit gut wrenching.
“11868” is a record for those who have loved, loved and lost, and those hoping to love someday. Most of the songs on “11868” were written post-breakup, making each song a little more bitter than the last. Spitalsky knows how to say what he feels with raw emotion, but pairing those feelings with poppy melodies and distorted, angst-ridden guitar make for quite the record.
Extra Medium Pony is one of those Cleveland gems people talk about. They show up, play a killer set, then go home to write more heart breaking tunes you can bob your head to.
